Assessment of Professional Knowledge Requirement for Oklahoma

As a reminder, beginning June 3, 2025, the Professional Education Assessment requirement for teacher candidates changed to the Assessment of Professional Knowledge (APK). There are currently two APK fields for Oklahoma teacher candidates: Elementary (NT053) and Secondary (NT054).

During this transition, there are resources available to assist candidates in successfully completing this requirement. The Right Start learning course for APK provides multiple opportunities for candidates to practice and prepare for teacher certification exams. The modules include targeted resources designed to build foundational knowledge aligned to the APK exams and increase the likelihood of success on the APK assessment.

Course Features Include:

  • Diagnostic Assessment to evaluate content knowledge focused on scientifically based reading instruction
  • Self-Paced Learning Modules aligned to the test content
  • Post Assessment to demonstrate areas of content improvement
  • Customized Course Dashboard to review results and assess readiness

This in-depth resource not only ensures candidates are prepared to meet Oklahoma's certification requirements but also equips candidates to strengthen their readiness for the classroom and improve student achievement.

This resource is a great way to ensure candidates begin their preparation early and stay on track for success.
